Barcelona indie pop band Brazzaville will tour the United States in support of their new CD, "21st Century Girl" (The Bus Stop Label). The band will play ten shows across the States from July 8th-26th (see complete tour schedule below), marking their first American outing since June 2007.
From his days as a teenage runaway on the streets of Hollywood through his low budget travels in Asia, South America and Europe, David Arthur Brown has always documented the people, places and experiences he has encountered. While on the road playing saxophone in Beck's band in 1997, Brown, a native Angeleno, bought a nylon-string guitar in Barcelona and asked his friend Smokey Hormel to show him a few chords. Staying up late at night in the tour bus lounge and in countless hotel rooms, Brown began writing songs for what would later become the 7-piece band Brazzaville. Culling from the journal he kept as a young traveler, Brown wrote about the many characters he'd met in his years abroad. He teamed up with a revolving door of L.A. musician friends to record and release three Brazzaville albums-"2002," "Somnambulista" and "Rouge on Pockmarked Cheeks" between 1998 and 2002. In September 2003, Brown packed up and moved to Barcelona, where he formed a European version of Brazzaville. The new incarnation of the band released "Hastings Street," "Welcome to Brazzaville" and "East L.A. Breeze," between 2004 and 2007. Their latest CD, "21st Century Girl," was released to critical acclaim in Europe in 2008 and is now available in America through The Bus Stop Label. For more information on the band, please visit
